I fully agree!! I visited solo back in 2017, no issues at all! I felt completely safe, found my Airbnb in the city no problem, drove the ring road solo, and would use wifi at gas stations or restaurants as I recall. Could post for the day- so people know where I am and what I did that day (like a travel journal) and would highly recommend to anyone!

Thank you so much for the clues this video gives. I was able to buy the nets from Amazon. Nowadays, though, the Amazon face mask link is for a Polyester product, not a silk one. There are some silk masks available elsewhere, however, prices range from $14 - $108 for - apparently - the same mask.

A lot of what you say re: size and how long food will last is also true in Paris! Parisians normally shop every day (or every other day). It's just in the culture. The French also bag their own groceries! And no chatting with the cashier, either. So it seems as if Iceland is much like the rest of Europe.

I've been to Hidden / Secret Lagoon and Krauma on two previous trips. I'm going to Reykjavik this October and will be going back to Sky Lagoon. The view of the city from the infinity pool is really fantastic!

Do you know if the cars provided by Blue Car Rentals are well maintained? Per a few reviews, I've seen concerns about the vehicles' maintenance problems.

Does your own insurance from your own country (eg America) or from your credit card cover the car in Iceland like it does elsewhere?

The "third party insurance", i.e. insurance against any damage you might cause to other, innocent users of the road is MANDATORY in Iceland - and in Europe, for that matter. You will simply not be ALLOWED to skimp on being insured any damage you might cause to other innocent road users. Icelandic authorities will come down on you like twenty tons of bricks if you try to skip out of that one!

Where is the closest to store the Prozac?

Think of Iceland as driving on a different planet rather than driving in a different country and you’ll realize why the added insurance is an excellent idea. Coolest country ever!

I’ve visited Iceland yearly since 2010 and have rented solely from Avis. There are always Americans (and I’m an American) getting into arguments with the return agents. Iceland has perils that few other countries have. If you travel east of Vik, then I highly recommend one purchase sand and ash coverage. Opening car doors which get grabbed by the wind is another. This lady is 100% correct - I purchase all of the insurances available. I’ll check out Blue Car rentals on my next trip.

I live in Miami Beach and our living spaces are small. It's mainly apartment/condo living. We use small appliances to conserve space. Big city living in the USA is probably more similar to Europe.

the only time (a lot of) Icelanders will say its OK to wear shoes indoors is during parties or dinner parties since the floors will be cleaned the day after a party. also, if you have a nice fit going on then its a bummer to wear socks… So that’s the exception of the rule! It could also be that when the host says “don’t worry about your shoes” its a sign that they will clean the floors anyway and it could come across as “lazy” if you want your guests to take off stylish shoes or heels because the host is “too lazy to clean properly” after a party.

I stayed in an apartment when I visited Iceland. Saw the northern lights at the beginning of March. I would love to go back in the summer.
